With New Chief of Beef, Our Team is ‘Stacked’

Chef Jordan Lamatrice of Budd Dairy fame announced today the opening of Stacked Burger Co. in 2024, serving burgers, fries & floats in Worthington.

Chef Jordan Lamatrice, right, celebrates securing the lease for his first Stacked Burger Co. location. Left is SkilletReport editor Adam Townsend. Jordan is joining The SkilletReport as its first Chef Editor and Chief of Beef.

In a SkilletReport exclusive, the chef and entrepreneur said he aims to open his first location to the public by the end of summer this year. He chose to announce his new restaurant concept here on the SkilletReport because he’ll be serving as our first Chef Editor and Chief of Beef.

Jordan will provide regular video cooking tips on the SkilletReport throughout the summer grilling season. As Chief of Beef, he will shape our coverage of Central Ohio burger and BBQ joints, steak houses and artisan butcher shops.

Lamatrice started in the food truck scene in the 2010s, securing a coveted spot at Budd Dairy in 2019. There, he became Budd’s best beloved burger booth, serving tens of thousands of hamburgers from the food hall’s opening in 2021 through ‘24.

Alphabetical Comfort Kitchen received consistently glowing reviews throughout Columbus media, including the Dispatch and Columbus Monthly.

Jordan finally outgrew his spot in the Cameron Mitchell-owned incubator in February 2024.

SkilletReport editor Adam Townsend met with Jordan at his new store at the shopping center on Worthington Woods Blvd. Here’s the interview with the exacting chef poised to lead the next Columbus burger wave.

The SkilletReport Columbus: All your reviews from Alphabetical mentioned your exacting attention to detail and the elegant simplicity of your food. What is your philosophy here with Stacked Burgers Fries & Floats?

Chef Jordan Lamatrice: Quality – we always do a really good job of taking something simple and making it exceptional.

I think food is important, and you don’t get many opportunities to get things right in life. That’s why we aim to get every meal exactly right every time.

SRC: Like a haiku in beef.

JL: We put a lot of thought into the ingredients we use; we put a lot of thought into our service. We make everything in house. In fact, I just found out I can source cured pork belly, smoke it myself and slice my own bacon.

SRC: I see the shell of your store here – just hookups and drywall right now. Looks like you’ll have a lot of counter space. What will it feel like in here?

JL: Stacked Burger Co. is a modern burger diner. The decor will be clean and simple, but still inviting – look for our branding as we launch our social media presence and new website in the coming months.

We’ll offer seating along a bar and at a few tables. A big part of our business will be takeout and delivery. We’re excited to start telling the folks in the surrounding office buildings we’re here, and we deliver.

We’ll be offering catering and our special Stacked Boxes filled with sandwiches for your whole crew at the office.

Also, we’re going to have a soda fountain with multiple flavors of pop right here where you can build your own floats; we’ll give you the cup with ice cream and you can go to town. Kids will love it.

SRC: Do you have a specific open date yet?

JL: We’re aiming for mid July, but we still have a lot of work to do.

SRC: Well, we’re excited to have you join us and guide our coverage here at The SkilletReport Columbus. I can’t wait to order my first meal from Stacked Burger Co.!
